Prelude to War: The Flight 17 Shoot Down (Part II)

This Monday morning the War Hawks are in hyper-drive, screaming for Russian scalps as they frantically lay the groundwork for military action. Establishment propaganda organs (all "main stream" news outlets and especially Fox News) have spent the weekend generating a blizzard of misinformation, disinformation, and outright lies. There is now, according to our unanimous main stream reporters, near certainty that Malaysian Flight 17 was shot down by “pro-Russian Separatists” if not by the Russians themselves. They know this to be the case because that is what they have been told by the now-standard “unnamed sources within the U.S. intelligence community”. Besides, the culprit had to be Russia or pro-Russians because the Ukrainian government denies having any BUK anti-aircraft missiles in Eastern Ukraine.
Oops!

It turns out that a picture really is worth a thousand words. On July 4th, a little more than two weeks ago, Ukrainian government forces were photographed by an AP reporter, moving the very type of missile reportedly used to shoot down Flight 17 into the eastern Ukraine. Here’s the picture—and here’s the link to the AP story that accompanied it.

While we don't know with certainty who launched that deadly missile, this picture does prove one thing conclusively: the Ukrainian government lied when it denied having missiles of this type in the region from which the launch appears to originated. As Grandpa always used to say, "When you're on the side of the Angels, there is no reason to lie!"

In these circumstances, it is recklessly irresponsible to indict Russia for this tragedy, particularly when those doing the indicting are responsible for initiating the civil war in the Ukraine without which this catastrophe would never have occurred. The U.S. government gets that "credit" because it planned, organized, equipped and advised the so-called Maidan Alliance forces that violently overthrew the legitimate government of the Ukraine some five months ago. Given that well-documented history, it is beyond hypocritical for President Obama and Senator McCain to lecture anyone about the evils of committing aggression against another sovereign nation.

It's time to tether the War Hawks before it is too late!
